REPAIR/PROCEDURE INFORMATION
Note:
Use extreme care not to scratch or damage interior trim pieces when handling. Once the instrument panel is removed, use a clean workbench covered with a soft cloth to prevent damage while working on it.
1) Remove the instrument panel according to the applicable Subaru service manual.
2) Inspect the wrapping on the locator pin. If damaged, remove the wrapping and replace it with a piece of non-woven material (12 mm wide x 170mm long).
3) Remove the left and right hooks which are secured by Phillip head screws (2 per hook).
4) Carefully remove the claw portion on both hooks. A utility knife, file or die grinder may be used. We suggest using a die grinder. Make sure to wear safety glasses. If using a utility knife, be extremely careful.
5) Wrap each hook with a piece of non-woven material (12 mm wide x 110 mm long).
6) Reinstall hooks to instrument panel.
7) Remove the 2 hook grommets. A small flat head screw driver or a white plastic stick may be used.
8) Carefully remove the 2 smaller claws of the grommet. A utility knife, file or die grinder may be used. We suggest a die grinder. Make sure to wear safety glasses. If using a utility knife be extremely careful.
9) Reinstall instrument panel in reverse order of removal.
10) Road test vehicle to verify noise has been eliminated.
