DTC P0483 - COOLING FAN RATIONALITY CHECK

1. OUTLINE OF DIAGNOSIS
Detect the malfunction of radiator fun.
Judge NG when the engine coolant temperature decreases slowly even if the radiator fan started rotating.




2. ENABLE CONDITION

3. GENERAL DRIVING CYCLE
Perform the diagnosis continuously when the engine coolant temperature is very high (more than 100 degree C (212 degree F)).

4. DIAGNOSTIC METHOD




Check the engine coolant temperature (A/D value) when the radiator fan is ON since the radiator fan output turns from OFF to ON with all of the malfunction conditions completed.




Judge NG when the cumulative time until completing the malfunction criteria becomes more than the time (5 minutes) needed for diagnosis. Also Judge OK when the malfunction criteria is not completed. And then clear NG.

Malfunction Indicator Light Illumination: Illuminates when malfunction occurs in 2 continuous driving cycles.

5. DTC CLEAR CONDITION
- When the OK idling cycle was completed 40 times in a row
- When "Clear Memory" was performed

6. MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT CLEAR CONDITION
- When the OK driving cycle was completed 3 times in a row
- When "Clear Memory" was performed

7. FAIL SAFE
None

8. ECM OPERATION AT DTC SETTING
Memorize the freeze frame data. (For test mode $02)
