PARTS INFORMATION

REPAIR PROCEDURE/INFORMATION

1) Confirm that the door mirror is loose.

2) Remove the interior mirror gusset cover (refer to the applicable Subaru Service manual found on the STIS web-site) and check the mirror screws for proper torque specification, 4.5 + 1.5 Nm (0.46 + 0.15 kgf-m, 3.3 + 1.1 ft-lb). Tighten as necessary. If the screws are at the proper torque specification and the mirror is still loose, go to step 3.

3) There are 3 mirror stay screws located on the bottom of the mirror assembly, two of which are accessible without removing the mirror. Check those two for proper torque specification, 2.5 + 0.1 Nm (0.25 kgf-m, 1.8 ft-lb). If they are loose, most likely the third will be also. Remove the door mirror (refer to the applicable Subaru Service manual found on the STIS web-site). Remove the 3 stay screws and use a wire brush to clean any adhesive material that may be present on the screw threads. Apply Loctite(R) 271 to the screw threads, install screws and torque to proper specification. Reinstall mirror.

Note:
If new screws are required, use part number 904310072, and apply Loctite(R) 271.
