Remote Starting System - Inoperative

RES (Remote Engine Start)
INTRODUCTION
If you encounter a vehicle with a RLS system that fails to start the engine when activated, there is the possibility that the 2-pin connector on the RES immobilizer interface antenna harness could be the problem The symptoms would be: the vehicle's ignition system powers (instrument cluster turns on) but does not attempt to crank the starter or if the vehicle's security system was armed at the point of RES activation, it may cause an alarm trigger when the ignition system powers If you encounter a vehicle with those symptoms, the immobilizer interface antenna harness will need to be replaced
PART INFORMATION
The immobilizer interface antenna harness has been modified The old style connector has "CKM" marked on the bottom (Figure 1) The new style connector has no markings (Figure 2)
The replacement Ignition Cylinder Antenna Ring Harness includes the installation instructions and all necessary hardware for replacement.
REPAIR PROCEDURE/INFORMATION
The immobilizer interface antenna harness mounts behind the ignition switch illuminated ring, routes down the left side of the steering column and plugs into the immobilizer interface module mounted to the AT control module to the left of the brake pedal. For replacement, follow the installation instructions included with the replacement part.
