Body - Rattling Noise From Front Doors

Door Rattle
Introduction
If you encounter a customer complaint that there is a rattle type noise coming from either of the front doors, there is the possibility that the bracket that secures the side door beam may be loose. To re-secure the bracket, refer to the repair procedure listed.
Tools Needed
^ Drill
^ Drill stop
^ Center punch
^ 3/16" drill bit
^ Rivet Gun
^ Material Needed
^ 2 Rivets - 3/16" diameter, all aluminum, grip range up to 1/8"
^ Nox Rust or equivalent anti-rust protection
^ Masking Tape
^ Touch-up paint
Repair Procedure/Information
For illustration purposes only, the outer door panel was cut out intentionally to show the side door beam, bracket and rivets installed.
1) Remove door weatherstrip from 3 clips.
Notes:
Make sure the door window is in the closed position.
The maximum depth for drilling is 1/4 inch; make sure to use a drill stop.
Be careful not to scratch the door label with the drill. Cover with tape if necessary.
Caution:
Wear proper eye protection when drilling.
2) Center punch the upper spot weld then drill out the spot weld using a 3/16" drill bit.
3) Apply anti-rust protection to the exposed metal.
4) Install rivet.
5) Repeat same procedure for the bottom spot weld.
6) Apply masking tape to door, exposing rivets for touch up paint. Paint and let dry.
7) Re-install weatherstrip

For vehicles within the Basic New Car Limited Warranty period, this repair can be claimed using the table.
