Gear Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair

Switches and Harness

REMOVAL

1. BACK-UP LIGHT AND NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH
1) Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
2) Remove the air intake duct and cleaner case. (Non-turbo model)
3) Remove the intercooler. (Turbo model)
4) Disconnect the connector of back-up light switch and neutral position switch.

5) Lift-up the vehicle.
6) Remove the back-up light switch and neutral position switch with harness.





INSTALLATION

1. BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH AND NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH





1) Install the back-up light switch and neutral position switch with harness.
Tightening torque:
32.3 Nm (3.3 kgf-m, 23.8 ft. lbs.)
2) Connect the connector of back-up light switch and neutral position switch.
3) Install the air intake duct and cleaner case. (Non-turbo model) 4) Install the intercooler. (Turbo model)
5) Connect the battery ground cable to battery.

INSPECTION

BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH
Inspect the back-up light switch.

NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH
1) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
2) Disconnect the connector of neutral position switch.
3) Measure the resistance between neutral position switch terminals.

4) Replace defective parts.
