Navigation System - Software Update For Various Issues

SUBJECT: Navigation System Update, Version 63000
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this bulletin is to provide the instructions for updating the Navigation Operating Software using the Navigation Update Program Disc. This update is for the operating system only and does not update the map data in any way. The updated software will address issues such as the following:
Bluetooth
^ Incoming/Outgoing Call Function While Driving. Re-dial list and received calls now enabled for hands free function (function previously grayed-out while driving).
^ Speed Dial and Speed Dial setting have been added to the hands free options. Speed Dial is now available while driving and it is now possible to add Speed Dial presets directly from the phone book.
Navigation System
^ Blank white screen displayed after Subaru opening screen; occurs on initial start up of the Navigation System when the vehicle is put in reverse.
^ List of satellite channels unavailable while driving.
^ Touch screen freezes when incorrect house number entered; when inputting an address, if a house number is entered that does not exist on the street that is subsequently entered, the touch screen freezes; however the hard keys will still work.
^ Route is not displayed on 16 mile scale.
^ Map continues to scroll; occasionally the map will continue to scroll even after removing finger from touch screen.
^ Display of progress bar incorrect; the progress bar shown in the enlarged intersection view indicating distance to the intersection shows increasing bar instead of decreasing bar.
^Maintenance Reminder icon not displayed when more than one vehicle reminder (maintenance, check oil, check tires) is set for the same day.
^ Incorrect software version format displayed (V 05 07.11 2007 ver.1).
^ Station preset memory not functioning in FM Scan mode; unable to scan station presets.
^ The "Cancel Guidance" option is still available after destination is reached. If the route option menu is displayed when the destination is reached the cancel guidance option remains available. If the cancel guidance is selected and yes is selected the screen freezes.
^ "Classic" is misspelled in the FM Category search option.

The updated software was used in production starting with the VINs shown above.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROGRAM UPDATING
Note:
^ Do not turn the ignition switch off from the Accessory position or start the engine while the update is loading.
^ All updates from the Update disc are deleted any time the (+) positive or (-) negative battery cable is disconnected.
Reminder:
If at any time the (+) positive or (-) negative battery cable is disconnected the update procedure will need to be performed AGAIN.
1) Turn the ignition switch to the Accessory position. Press power button so that the Start-up CAUTION screen is displayed.

2) Touch the "Agree" soft-key. The map screen will be displayed.
Note:
Soft-keys are on the touch screen. Hard-keys are the buttons on the panel.

3) Press the TILT hard-key. The TILT/EJECT screen will be displayed.

4) Touch the MAP soft-key. A Yes/No prompt will be displayed. Touch the YES soft-key. The front panel will open to expose the DVD/CD and MAP DVD insertion slots.
Note:
The panel opens and the Map disc is ejected automatically.

5) Remove the MAP disc and insert the Update disc in the MAP DVD loading slot.
Note:
Do not insert the Update disc in the DVD/CD loading slot.
Software Update
6) The software update will automatically start. When the update ends, the CAUTION screen in step 7 will be displayed.
Note:
It takes approximately 60 to 90 seconds to complete the download. After completed, press agree key. If the program version of the unit is the same or higher than the version of the Update disc, the update software is not downloaded and the system will go directly to the Caution screen (step 7). If that is the case no update is needed and you may proceed to the next step.

7) After the Opening screen, the Start-up CAUTION screen will be displayed. Touch the "Agree" soft-key. The CAUTION screen below will then be displayed. Press the TILT hard-key. The TILT/EJECT screen will be displayed.
Note:
Because there is no map data included on the Update disc, the CAUTION below is displayed. The map screen is displayed when you insert the Map disc after removing the Update disc (after the next step).

8) Touch the MAP soft-key. A Yes/No prompt will be displayed. Touch the YES soft-key. The front panel will open to expose the DVD/CD and MAP DVD insertion slots.
Note:
The panel opens and the Update disc is automatically ejected.

9) Remove the Update disc and insert the MAP disc in the MAP DVD loading slot. After the MAP disc loads, the map will appear on the screen.

Do not insert the Map disc in the DVD/CD loading slot.
Check the Software Version
10) Press the MENU hard-key. The NAV. MENU screen will be displayed.

11) Touch the Version soft-key. The VERSION screen will be displayed.

12) Confirm that "�6300" is shown on the top line for the Main version.
Final Step
13) Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
