Flywheel: Service and Repair

Flywheel

REMOVAL
1) Remove the transmission assembly.
2) Remove the clutch cover and clutch disc.
3) Using the ST, remove the flywheel.

ST 499057000 TORX� PLUS (Used for 5MT turbo model)





INSTALLATION
1) Install the flywheel and ST.

2) Tighten the flywheel mounting bolts to the specified torque.
ST 499057000 TORX� PLUS (Used for 5MT turbo model)

CAUTION: The bolts without identification groove as shown in the figure must be used as flywheel attaching bolts for 5MT turbo model.





NOTE: Tighten the flywheel attachment bolts gradually. Each bolt should be tightened to the specified torque in crisscross order.





3) Install the clutch disc and cover.
4) Install the transmission assembly.

INSPECTION

NOTE: The illustration below is for a Turbo model. However, perform the same procedures for the Non-turbo model.

CAUTION: Since this bearing is grease-sealed and is a non-lubrication type, do not wash with gasoline or any solvents.

1) Damage on sliding surface of facing and the ring gear
If defective, replace the flywheel.





2) Smoothness of rotation
Rotate the ball bearing while applying pressure in the thrust direction.
3) If noise or excessive play is noted, replace the flywheel.
