SUBJECT:
Revised Packing Material for the License Plate Lamp

INTRODUCTION

The packing (gasket) material for the license plate lamp has been revised to improve the sealing performance to the rear gate panel. The new material is thicker to provide a better seal and help prevent corrosion which may develop as a result of contact between edges of the lamp assembly and the paint finish.

PART INFORMATION

SERVICE PROCEDURE / INFORMATION

^ Remove the license lamp assembly from the rear gate following the procedure in the applicable Service Manual.

^ Using a plastic trim tool, remove all of the old packing material from the license lamp assembly. Clean off all residual adhesive and dirt using a plastic safe adhesive remover like "Goo Gone" or similar product.

The photos above show the new packing material. The side with lettering is the adhesive side (left).

^ Once the license lamp is completely clean and dry, peel the paper from the adhesive side and carefully attach it to the back of the lamp making sure none of the new packing extends over the edges. Work out any trapped air bubbles to the closest edge.
