Electrical - Rear Seat Harness Protector Installation

SUBJECT: One-touch Folding Rear Seatbacks (if equipped)
INTRODUCTION
During a recent vehicle inspection at the ports we have found that the rear seat power fold harness could rub on the evaporative leak control module cover when the backrest is positioned in the down position To remedy the condition the harness will need to be inspected and tie wrapped.
COUNTERMEASURE IN PRODUCTION
A countermeasure was incorporated into production in late February, 2011 starting with VIN B*754813.
REPAIR PROCEDURE/INFORMATION
1) Unclip the rear upholstery to gain access to the harness. There are 3 clips on the left side and 4 on the right.
2) Carefully pull on the harness at the fabric opening hole to remove any excess slack (approximately 3")
3) Inspect wiring harness insulation for damage. If there is damage to the harness (cut in insulation/ wire exposed) wrap each wire separately with electrical tape and then wrap all wires together as illustrated.
4) Make a loop in the harness
5) Wrap a wire-tie around the harness and tighten the wire-tie (not excessively tight).
6) Cut the end off the wire-tie.
7) Push the harness into the fabric Opening hole.
8) Secure rear upholstery
9) Perform the repair to the right side, following steps 1 through 8.
