Restraints - R/H Front Seat Belt Squeak/Creak Noises

APPLICABILITY: 2010MY and Later Legacy and Outback (Equipped with passenger power seat)

SUBJECT: Seat Belt Buckle Squeak/Creak Sound

INTRODUCTION

If you encounter a customer complaint that there is a squeal/creak type sound coming from the passenger side, inner seat belt area, the seat belt latch arm may need to be insulated. This sound occurs on the passenger side with the seat occupied, when the vehicle is in motion. The sound is coming from the seat belt latch arm coming in contact with the rear stopper as designed to eliminate the sound refer to the repair procedure listed.

PARTS/MATERIAL

3M Scotch Super 33 Vinyl - Electrical Tape or equivalent

SERVICE PROCEDURE/INFORMATION





1) Remove the passenger front seat (refer to the applicable Subaru Service Manual)





2) Remove the seat belt latch arm.





3) Wrap the seat belt latch arm with tape (3 to 4 times).

4) Reinstall inner seat belt latch arm and seat in reverse order of removal.

Note:
Ensure that the hardware is torqued to proper specifications.
