INTRODUCTION

If you encounter a customer complaint when opening the sunroof (the glass opens about one inch then stops, makes a squeak type sound and/or opens halfway then binds), the wedge cap may be out of alignment. If the wedge cap is too high on one side, it will cause the sunroof glass to bind, which will cock the glass. Refer to the service procedure to remedy the condition.

REPAIR PROCEDURE / INFORMATION

A plastic block which was recommended in Service Bulletin 12-122-10R may be used, or an equivalent.

1) Open the sunroof glass and determine which side needs adjustment. Note: In just about all cases, the left side requires adjustment.

2) Place a solid block as shown; make sure it is square and flush on top of the wedge cap.

3) Strike the top of the block with a hammer 3 to 4 times. Check the operation of the sunroof glass. If the wedge cap is still out of adjustment, strike the block with additional force. Caution: Too much force can crack the wedge cap.

4) Check the operation of the sunroof glass 10 times, and the tilt function 3 to 4 times. If still out of adjustment, repeat steps 1 through 3.
