Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair

Compressor

REMOVAL

1. Perform compressor oil return operation.
2. Turn the A/C switch to OFF and stop the engine.
3. Using the refrigerant recovery system, discharge refrigerant.
4. Disconnect the ground cable from battery.
5. Remove the V-belts.
6. Remove the bolts and remove the V-belt cover bracket.






7. Remove the bolt, and detach the hose - pressure suction and the hose - pressure discharge.






8. Disconnect the nut and each connector, and move the generator harness to the right.






9. Remove the compressor assembly.
1. Remove the bolts, and then remove the generator bracket.






2. Remove the bolts and remove the compressor assembly.

NOTE: Tighten the engine hanger together with the compressor assembly.






INSTALLATION

CAUTION:
- Replace the O-rings on the hose - pressure suction and discharge with new parts, and then apply compressor oil.
- After replacing the compressor assembly, adjust the amount of the compressor oil.


1. Install each part in the reverse order of removal.

Tightening torque:
Air conditioning unit:
T1: 7.5 N.m (0.76 kgf-m, 5.5 ft-lb)
T2: 10 N.m (1.02 kgf-m, 7.4 ft-lb)

Compressor:
T1: 25 N.m (2.55 kgf-m, 18.4 ft-lb)
T2: 36 N.m (3.67 kgf-m, 26.6 ft-lb)

V-belt cover bracket and generator bracket:
T1: 8.5 N.m (0.9 kgf-m, 6.3 ft-lb)
T2: 16 N.m (1.6 kgf-m, 11.8 ft-lb)
T3: 25 N.m (2.5 kgf-m, 18.4 ft-lb)
T4: 36 N.m (3.7 kgf-m, 26.6 ft-lb)


2. Charge refrigerant.
