Navigation System Updates
INTRODUCTION
If you encounter a customer complaint with any of the three issues listed, there is a Navigation Program (software only) Update Disc now available to correct the symptoms. This update is for the operating system only and does not update the map data in any way.
VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH NAVIGATION, WITH OR WITHOUT REAR VIEW CAMERA OPTION
Navigation screen freezes in specific locations (refer to Occurrence Location Chart) The screen will only freeze if the vehicle is in the exact location as listed Once the vehicle is moved from that location, the screen will display normally. Any frozen screen concern that occurs in other than the listed locations, must be diagnosed using applicable service information as the procedure listed in this bulletin would not apply.
VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH NAVIGATION AND REAR VIEW CAMERA OPTION
Navigation screen turns white on initial start up
This issue occurs when the transmission is shifted into Reverse and then into Drive before the "Accept" screen comes up (park to reverse to drive in rapid succession). If you wait until the "Accept" screen comes up before shifting into Reverse or waiting a moment in Reverse to allow the rear camera screen to come up before shifting into Drive the condition does not occur. If the customer confirms that the screen goes white while remaining in Park immediately upon startup, or some other concern then the cause may be different and additional diagnosis may be necessary.
VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH NAVIGATION AND REAR VIEW CAMERA OPTION
When viewing Audio or Info Menu, screen switches to current Map display.
This issue occurs when shifting out of Reverse before the rear view camera display comes up and then selecting DEST or MENU. Any other concern with the Map display coming up unexpectedly must be diagnosed using applicable service information.
COUNTERMEASURE IN PRODUCTION
The release of the next version of the Navigation Map discs (estimated timing, first quarter of 2012) will include these software updates

REPAIR PROCEDURE/INFORMATION
This update can be installed by the dealer or customer.
Note:
Reprogramming will be required if the battery fails or is disconnected in the future, therefore it would be best to provide your customer the disc after updating. As with any update, if the current navigation version is the same or higher than the version of the update disc, it is not necessary to update the program.
1) Turn the ignition switch to the Accessory position.
2) Eject the MAP Disc and insert the navigation update program disc. Note:
Do not insert the update disc into the DVD/CD loading slot. If the system has already been updated and the update disc is loaded again, no update will occur and the CAUTION screen will be displayed.
The software update will start immediately.
After the program is updated, the navigation unit will reboot.
3) Touch "Agree" when displayed on the navigation screen.
4) Eject the disc when "DISC is not a MAP DVD" is displayed on the navigation screen.
5) Insert the valid MAP DISC. Update is now completed.
