P0712

DTC P0712 Oil temperature sensor system A circuit (Low)
DTC P0713 Oil temperature sensor system A circuit (High)

Circuit description

The oil temperature sensor installed in the valve body detects the oil temperature in the transmission hydraulic control circuit and inputs signals corresponding to the oil temperature to the transmission control computer ASSY.

NOTE:
^ The data monitor (AT oil temperature) indicates -40°C when P0712 is output.
^ The data monitor (AT oil temperature) indicates 171°C when P0713 is output.

Monitor description

These diagnostic codes indicates that there is an open or short circuit in the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) temperature sensor circuit. The automatic transmission fluid (ATF) temperature sensor converts ATF temperature into electric resistance value. TCM specifies ATF temperature based on the resistance value and detects open or short circuit in the ATF temperature circuit. If the ATF temperature resistance value is less than 0.049 V or more than 4.932 V, TCM recognizes it as a defect in the ATF sensor or wiring. TCM turns on MIL and records the diagnostic codes.

MONITOR STRATEGY

TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS

P0712: ATF temperature sensor (short circuit to ground)

P0713: ATF temperature sensor (battery short circuit/open circuit)

All of the following conditions are established.

TYPICAL MALFUNCTION THRESHOLDS

P0712: Range check (low resistance)

P0713: Range check (high resistance)

NOTE:
Read the freeze frame data using SSM3. Freeze frame data includes a part of the engine operation condition when a trouble occurs and the information helps the troubleshooting.
