Oil Filter: Service and Repair

Replacement

1. Engine oil draining
(1) Remove the oil filler cap SUB-ASSY.
(2) Remove the oil pan drain plug and gasket.
(3) After draining the oil, install the oil pan drain plug with a new gasket.
Standard value:T=42Nm {428kgf-cm} {31.0ft-lbf}
2. Oil filter SUB-ASSY removal
(1) Remove the dirt and foreign matters on the engine side installing surface.





(2) Remove the oil filter SUB-ASSY using the SST.

3. Oil filter union removal
(1) Remove the oil filter union.
4. Oil filter union installation
(1) Install the oil filter union.
Standard value:T=45Nm {459kgf-cm} {33.2ft-lbf}
5. Oil filter SUB-ASSY installation
(1) Remove the dirt and foreign matters on the engine side installing surface and inner side.
(2) Apply a coat of engine oil to the seal rubber of a new oil filter SUB-ASSY.
(3) Tighten the oil filter SUB-ASSY by hand.

CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage the seal rubber of oil filter SUB-ASSY.


(4) Tighten the oil filter SUB-ASSY using the SST.

Standard value:Specified tightening torque
T=14Nm {143kgf-cm} {10.3ft-lbf}
When using the SST, calculate the torque using the following formula.

Formula: T2 = L2/(L1 + L2) �T1





NOTE:
^ This torque value is valid when the SST and torque wrench are aligned on a line.
^ Attach the SST and torque wrench so that they are alined on a line.

6. Engine oil refill
(1) Fill the engine oil.
(2) Install the oil filler cap SUB-ASSY.
7. Engine oil level check Testing and Inspection
8. Engine oil leakage check
(1) Start the engine and make sure that there is no oil leakage at the connected and tightened portions where the work has done.
