Instrument Panel Tweeter Speaker Grille

INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this Service Bulletin is to provide a repair procedure in the event of a customer concern regarding the fit of the tweeter speaker grille. If the grille does not sit flush, it may be due to improper routing of the speaker's wiring harness.

COUNTERMEASURE IN PRODUCTION

Repositioning of the wiring harness in production started on May 30, 2012 with VIN # D*601909.

SERVICE PROCEDURE/INFORMATION





Verify the condition as described by the customer and shown in the photo.





Remove the tweeter speaker grille by carefully releasing the 6 retaining clips with a plastic trim tool (*1).

NOTE:
Be extremely careful to not damage the surrounding dash trim surfaces.

This picture shows the wiring harness (wrapped with foam insulation) improperly routed between the speaker and the instrument panel preventing the grille from seating properly.





Route the speaker wiring harness down into the instrument panel as shown in the picture below. This will provide clearance between the speaker and instrument panel allowing the replacement grille to fit the dash opening properly. Replace the speaker grille. Do not re-use the original as the retaining clips may have become damaged due to the original condition.
