Power Window Main Switch Change

INTRODUCTION

This Bulletin informs of an internal change to the driver's door power window main switch. There is a possibility the "One-touch" feature of the passenger door window may not operate properly when commanded to open from the driver's door power window main switch. The logic built into the switch has been changed to address this very intermittent condition. There is no change to the operation of the power window system.

COUNTERMEASURE IN PRODUCTION

The new power window main switch was incorporated into production starting with VIN D*606053.

Before proceeding with replacement of the power window main switch, confirm the Window Lock switch adjacent to the main switch has not been inadvertently activated causing the condition.





Review the operation of the switches with the customer as shown in the illustration taken from the owner's manual. Confirm that the customer is aware of how both the normal and One-touch opening modes of the switch function.

NOTE:
This power window main switch logic change will in no way effect the prescribed function of the switch. If the customer concern relates strictly to the amount of time required to press the switch to engage the One-touch feature, replacing the switch will have no effect on their concern.

Once you have determined the customer's operation of the power window main switch has been correct and the possibility of an intermittent issue exists, replace the switch following the procedure outlined in the applicable Service Manual.

The power windows can be operated when:

^ Vehicles without a keyless access with push-button start system:

The ignition switch is in the "ON" position.

^ Vehicles with a keyless access with push-button start system:

The push-button ignition switch is in the "ON" mode.

Operating the power windows after turning the engine off:

^ Vehicles without a keyless access with push-button start system:

The power windows can be operated for approximately 45 seconds even after the ignition switch is turned to the "ACC" or "LOCK" position. They cannot however, be operated once either door is opened.

^ Vehicles with a keyless access with push-button start system:

The power windows can be operated for approximately 45 seconds even after the push-button ignition switch is turned to "ACC" mode or turned off. They cannot, however, be operated once either door is opened.
