Removal and Installation

REMOVAL:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect vacuum hose and electrical connector.
3. Disconnect spark plug cables by gripping cables at boots.
4. Remove distributor flange bolt, then distributor from cylinder head.

INSTALLATION:

1. Remove distributor cap from distributor.
2. Position distributor into distributor gear case.

3. Align timing marks as shown Fig. 8.
4. Ensure No. 1 cylinder is at TDC of compression stroke.

5. Position rotor as shown in Fig. 9.

6. Install distributor to gear case so flange will coincide with mounting screw, Fig. 10. Finger tighten flange mounting screw.
7. Install the following:
a. Distributor cap with gasket to distributor.
b. Coil and spark plug wires to distributor cap.
c. Vacuum hose to vacuum controller.
d. Distributor electrical connector.
8. Adjust ignition timing to specifications as described in ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES.
