Transfer Case: Service and Repair
1. Raise and support vehicle.2. Remove three securing bolts from each of three universal joints from transfer case.
3. Remove clamp and boot from transfer case.
4. Remove control lever from transfer case by depressing lever guide and turning counterclockwise.
5. Drain oil from transfer case by removing drain plug.
6. Disconnect speedometer cable from transfer case.
7. Disconnect 4WD switch electrical connector from transfer case.
8. Remove transfer case-to-chassis attaching nuts and carefully lower transfer case assembly from vehicle.
9. Reverse procedure to install. Torque transfer case attaching nuts to 18.5-25.0 ft. lbs.
