Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Adjustments
Disconnecting Selector Cable:
- Place transmission in neutral
- Hoist vehicle.
- Remove locknut on end of cable and remove cable by moving shift lever to "L" range.
- Set shift lever to "N" and loosen switch fastener bolt.
- After turning shift lever clockwise fully, turn it counter clockwise until resistance is felt and tighten switch fastener.
- Connect an ohm meter between BLACK/YELLOW and BLACK/RED wires in switch connector.
- Check for continuity as follows by moving shift lever.
In PARK And NEUTRAL Continuity
Other Than PARK And NEUTRAL No Continuity
- With selector lever (in car) held by an assistant, connect cable to shift lever while moving shift lever from "L" to "N".
NOTE: When another person's help is not available the following procedure can be used,
- Remove center console box.
- Shift lever to "N".
- Insert a 4mm (0.16 in) rod into holes in selector lever position plate and selector lever.
This will hold lever in "N" position.
- With both selector lever and in car selector in "N", install and tighten lock nut.
- Lower vehicle and confirm proper selector operation.
- Connect negative battery cable.
