Section Title: Body Electrical

Category: Technical
SUBJECT: INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR A/C BRACKETS
MODEL: SIDEKICK
YEAR: ALL
CONDITION: Rattle or squeak from air conditioning compressor or A/C inoperative.
CAUSE: Loose air conditioning compressor due to loose, broken, or missing compressor mounting bolts/brackets.
CORRECTION: 1. Use thread lock compound on all A/C bracket bolts and all A/C compressor mount bolts.
2. Use torque wrench.
3. Tighten bolts IN PROPER SEQUENCE and to proper specifications.
CAUTION:
Bolt (2) adjusts a sliding collar on the lower bracket to take up any air gap between compressor ear and bracket. If the collar does not slide (adjust) the compressor bolt will loosen and fall off.
Failure to follow the proper torque or torquing sequence will result in loosening/breakage of bolts or stress fracture of the compressor mounting bracket or compressor mounting ear.
Tightening bolt (2) to the specified torque before tightening bolt (1) can cause bracket breakage.
