Transmission

1. Remove transfer shift control lever knob, then disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove the following components from engine compartment:
a. Wiring harness couplers, breather hose clamp, kickdown cable, vacuum hose, transmission to engine bolts and starter.

3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Drain transfer oil.
5. Remove front and rear propeller shafts.
6. Release select cable by removing nut from end of cable and E-ring from bracket.
7. Remove select cable bracket, then disconnect oil cooler hoses from pipes.
8. Remove torque converter housing lower plate.
9. Holding drive plate stationary, remove plate attaching bolts.

10. Remove exhaust center pipe, then engine to transmission nuts.
11. Remove meter cable end nut and disconnect cable.
12. Support transmission using suitable jack, then remove rear mounting member bolts and member.
13. Remove transmission and transfer from vehicle.
14. Remove transfer case 12 attaching bolts, then separate transfer from transmission.
15. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque transmission to engine and engine rear mounting bolts to specification.
b. Torque drive plate to convertor and U-joint flange bolts to specification.
