Manual Transmission/Transaxle: Service and Repair
1. Remove battery ground cable.2. Remove four bolts fastening outer gear shift lever boot and slide boot toward shift knob.
3. Remove three gear shift lever case bolts, then the gear shift lever.
4. Disconnect back-up light and fifth gear switch electrical connectors from transmission.
5. Disconnect wiring from starter, then remove starter.
6. Remove fuel hose clamp from transmission case.
7. Raise and support vehicle.
8. Remove transmission drain plug and drain oil into appropriate container.
9. Disconnect clutch wire from clutch release lever.
10. Remove propeller shaft from transmission to transfer case.
11. Remove propeller shaft from transfer case to front differential.
12. Remove clutch housing lower plate from transmission case.
13. Support transmission with a suitable jack, then remove bolts securing transmission to engine.
14. Remove support pipe and exhaust center pipe.
15. Remove transmission rear mounting bracket from chassis and transmission.
16. Ensure all connectors are unfastened from transmission, then carefully lower transmission from vehicle.
17. Reverse procedure to install.
