Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECT, WTS)
Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor:
MAT & CTS Sensor Characteristics:
PURPOSE
Measures engine temperature and sends a voltage signal to the ECM.
LOCATION
At the side of intake manifold
OPERATION
This sensor measures the temperature of the engine coolant and converts its change into a resistance through a thermistor. That is, as coolant temperature lowers, resistance increases and as it rises, resistance decreases. The ECM reads the resistance of the ECT sensor, and uses the information to control outputs.
