Reassembly Procedure

To reassemble the power steering pump; Reverse the disassembly procedure noting the following items:





1. Lubricate the oil seal lip with grease and the sliding surface of the shaft with power steering fluid.

2. Insert the pulley shaft through the oil seal and into the pump body.

"A" : Grease (pin 99000-25010)





3. Apply power steering fluid to the 0-rings and install them onto the pump body.

4. Install the side plate to the pump body.





NOTE:
Carefully align the dowel pins on the side plate at a 45° angle, as shown in figure.

5. Apply power steering fluid to the siding surface of the rotor.

6. Install the rotor onto the shaft.

7. Install a new snap ring to the shaft, ensuring that it fits securely into the shaft groove.

NOTE:
Never reuse the removed snap ring.





8. Apply power steering fluid to the sliding surface of the cam ring.

9. Install the cam ring to the pump body. Make sure the tapered end of the cam ring should face the slide plate.





10. Apply power steering fluid to each vane.

11. Install all ten (10) vanes into the rotor.





12. Apply power steering fluid to the 0-ring.

13. Install the 0-ring to the pump body.





14. Apply power steering fluid to the sliding surface of the pump cover and rotor.

15. Align the dowel pins to the holes of the cover plate as shown and install the pump cover to the pump body.





16. Gradually tighten pump cover bolts to specified torque.

NOTE:
After installing the pump cover, make sure that the shaft can be turned by hand.

Tightening Torque
(a): 20.0 lb-ft (2.8 kg-m, 28 N.m)





17. Apply power steering fluid to the 0-ring of the terminal set.

18. Install 0-ring to the terminal set.

19. Install the terminal set to the pump body.

Tightening Torque
(b): 20.0 lb-ft (2.8 kg-m, 28 N.m)





20. Apply power steering fluid to the relief valve (flow control valve).

21. Install the relief valve (flow control valve) into the pump body.

22. Install the flow control spring into the pump body.

23. Apply power steering fluid to the 0-ring of plug.

24. Tighten the plug to the specified torque.

Tightening Torque
(c): 43.5 lb-ft (6.0 kg-m, 60 N.m)





25. Apply power steering fluid to the 0-ring of the suction connector.

26. Install the 0-ring to the suction connector.








27. Install the suction connector to the pump body as shown in figure. Tighten the suction connector bolts to the specified torque.

Tightening Torque
(d): 8.5 lb-ft (1.2 kg-m, 12 N.m)
