Disassembly
1. Hold differential assembly by Special Tool (A) 09944-76010 as illustrated.
2. Set Special Tool (A) 09944-76010 with differential assembly on vise securely.
3. Put identification marks on differential side bearing caps.
4. Take off differential side bearing lock plates and differential side bearing caps by removing their bolts and then take out bearing adjusters, side bearing outer races and drive bevel gear with differential case.
5. Remove rear wheel speed sensor.
6a. Remove drive bevel gear exciter ring (if equipped), pinion gear and pinion shaft.
1. With aluminum plates placed on vise first, grip differential case with it and remove bevel gear by removing its bolts.
2. Remove differential left case from differential right case.
3. Remove exciter ring from differential left case by using copper hammer, if equipped.
CAUTION: Tap all along the exciter ring rim evenly with copper hammer.
4. Drive out spring pin with Special Tool (B) 09922-85811 and hammer and disassemble differential side gears, pinions, washers and shaft in differential case.
6b. Remove side bearings Using Special Tools (C) 09913-85230 and (D) 09913-61510, pull out differential side bearings.
7. Remove bevel pinion assembly.
1. Turn differential assembly together with Special Tool (A) 09944-76010 by 90° and grip it with vise again.
2. Hold universal joint flange with Special Tool (E) 09922-66020 and then remove flange nut by using power wrench.
3. Make mating marks on drive bevel pinion and companion flange.
CAUTION: Don't make mating mark on the coupling surface of the flange.
4. Remove companion flange from pinion. Use Special Tool (F) 09913-65135 if it is hard to remove.
5. Remove bevel pinion with rear bearing, shim and spacer from carrier. If it is hard to remove, screw an used nut into pinion and hammer on that nut with a plastic hammer but never directly on pinion.
6. Remove bevel pinion rear bearing by using bearing puller and press.
8. Using a hammer and brass bar, drive out front bearing outer race with bearing and oil seal.
9. Drive out rear bearing outer race in the same way as in the step 8).
