System Specifications

Tighten intake manifold bolts and nuts to specified torque
Tightening Torque (a): 23 Nm (2.3 kg-m, 17.0 ft. lbs.).







Install intake manifold front stiffener and rear stiffener. Tighten bolts to specified torque.
Tightening Torque:
(a): 50 Nm (5.0 kg-m, 36.5 ft. lbs.).
(b): 25 Nm (2.5 kg-m, 18.0 ft. lbs.).







. Install throttle body to intake manifold with new gasket. Tighten bolts and nuts to specified torque.
Tightening Torque (a): 13 N m (1.3 kg-m, 9.5 ft. lbs.).







Install cylinder head to cylinder block. Apply engine oil to cylinder head bolts and tighten them gradually as follows:
a. Tighten all bolts to 53 Nm (5.3 kg-m, 38.5 ft. lbs.) according to numerical order in figure.
b. In the same manner as in (1), tighten them to 84 Nm (8.4 kg-m, 61.0 ft. lbs.).







c. Loosen all the bolts until tightening torque is reduced to 0 in the illustrated order.







d. Tighten all bolts to 37 Nm (3.7 kg-m, 27.0 ft. lbs.) according to numerical order in figure.
e. In the same manner as in (4) again, tighten them to specified torque.
Tightening Torque:
(a): 105 Nm (10.5 kg-m, 76.0 ft. lbs.).
(b): 11 Nm ( 1.1 kg-m, 8.0 ft. lbs.).

NOTE: Be sure to tighten M6 bolt after securing the other bolt.











Install timing chain tensioner as shown in figure.
Tightening Torque (a): 25 Nm (2.5 kg-m, 18.5 ft. lbs.).







With latch of tensioner adjuster No.1 returned and plunger pushed back into body, insert stopper into latch and body. After inserting it, check to make sure that plunger will not come out.







Install timing chain tensioner adjuster No.1.
Tightening Torque (a): 11 Nm 11.1 kg-m, 8.0 ft. lbs.).
Pull out stopper from adjuster No.1.







Install timing chain guide No.1.
Tightening Torque (a): 11 Nm 11.1 kg-m, 8.0 ft. lbs.).







Install intake and exhaust camshaft timing sprocket bolts. To install it, fit a spanner to hexagonal part at the center of camshaft to hold stationary.
Tightening Torque (a): 60 Nm (6.0 kg-m, 43.5 ft. lbs.).







Plunger pushed back into body, insert stopper into body. After inserting it, check to make sure that plunger will not come out.







Install timing chain tensioner adjuster No.2 with gasket.
Tightening Torque:
(a): 11 Nm (1,1 kg-m, 8.0 ft. lbs.).
(b): 45 Nm (4.5 kg-m, 33.0 ft. lbs.).







Install lower crankcase to cylinder block. Apply oil to crankcase bolts before installing them. Tighten crankcase bolts, following sequence in figure. Tighten crankcase bolts to specified torque.
Tightening Torque:
(a): 58 Nm (5.8 kg-m, 42.0 ft. lbs.)
(b): 27 Nm (2.7 kg-m, 19.5 ft. lbs.)

NOTE: After tightening crankcase bolts, check to be sure that crankshaft rotates smoothly when turned by hand.







Install flywheel Manual Transmission (M/T vehicle) or drive plate Automatic Transmission (A/T vehicle). Using special tool, lock flywheel or drive plate, and tighten flywheel or drive plate bolts applied with thread lock cement to specification.
"A": Thread lock 99000-32110 or equivalent.
Special Tool (A): 09924-17810 or equivalent.
Tightening Torque (a): 70 Nm (7.0 kg-m, 51.0 ft. lbs.)
