DTC 94

CIRCUIT DIAGRAM

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION:
This DTC is run to determine the proper operation of the stop light switch. This is important because Antilock Brake System (ABS) is activated when the stop light switch is closed and deactivated when the switch is open. If the stop light switch is always closed, ABS operation will always be requested, resulting in potential hydraulic modulator cycling (ABS cycling) on rough roads. Additionally, this malfunction will most likely result in a discharged battery (due to the stop lights remaining illuminated) if the driver is not informed of this malfunction.

FAILURE CONDITION:
DTC 94 can be set when the vehicle reaches at least 40 km/h (25 mph). If the stop light switch was never open during two consecutive drive cycles, a malfunction exists.
