Component Tests and General Diagnostics

1. Apply parking brake and stop engine.
With turned on lighting switch and operated dimmer switch, check headlights come on.
2. Start engine. Release parking brake but apply toot brake. Turn lighting switch at either "OFF" or "Clearance light" position.
Check headlights come on.
Apply parking brake. Check headlights go out.
If check result is OK, D.R.L. controller is OK.
3. Disconnect negative cable at battery.
4. Disconnect D.R.L. controller coupler and connect negative cable at battery.
5. Check that the voltage and resistance between following terminals are specifications.

Terminals E24-9 and ground : No continuity
(Lighting switch OFF)
Terminals E24-9 and ground : Continuity
(Lighting switch ON)
Terminals E24-3 and ground : No continuity
(Do not apply parking brake)
Terminals E24-3 and ground : Continuity
(Apply parking brake)
Terminals E24-1 and ground : No continuity
(Lighting switch OFF)
Terminals E24-1 and ground : Continuity
(Lighting switch ON)
Terminals E24-7 and ground : Continuity
Terminals E24-4 and ground : 0 V
(Engine stop)
Terminals E24-4 and ground : 12 V
(Engine run)
Terminals E24-5 and ground : 0 V
(Ignition switch OFF)
Terminals E24-5 and ground : 12 V
(Ignition switch ON)
Terminals E24-8 and ground : 0 V
(Ignition switch OFF)
Terminals E24-8 and ground : 12 V
(Ignition switch ON)

If check result is not satisfactory, repair.

6. If step (5) is OK, replace controller and recheck.
