Cylinder Head Assembly: Specifications
Install Cylinder head to block.a) Tighten cylinder head bolts (except hex hole bolt) to 53 Nm (5.3 kgf-m, 38.5 ft. lbs.) according to numerical order in figure.
b) In the same manner as Step a), tighten them to 84 Nm (8.4 kgf-m, 61.0 ft. lbs.).
c) Loosen all bolts until tightening torque is reduced to 0 in reverse order of tightening.
d) In the same manner as Step a), tighten them to 53 Nm (5.3 kgf-m, 38.5 ft. lbs.).
e) In the same manner as Step a) again, tighten them to 105 Nm (10.5 kgf-m, 76.0 ft. lbs.).
f) Tighten cylinder head bolts (hex hole bolt) to specified torque.
Tightening torque
Cylinder head bolt a: Tighten 53 Nm (5.3 kgf-m, 38.5 ft. lbs.), 84 Nm (8.4 kgf-m, 61.0 ft. lbs.), 0 Nm (0 kgf-m, 0 ft. lbs.), 53 Nm (5.3 kgf-m, 38.5 ft. lbs.) and 105 Nm (10.5 kgf-m, 76.0 ft. lbs.) by the specified procedure
Cylinder head bolt (hex hole bolt) b: Tighten 11 Nm (1.1 kgf-m, 7.5 ft. lbs.) by the specified procedure
NOTE:
Be sure to install hex hole bolts (1) as shown in figure.
Measure cylinder head bore and tappet outside diameter to determine cylinder head-to-tappet clearance. If clearance exceeds limit, replace tappet or cylinder head.
Camshaft Housing Bolts
Tighten housing bolts temporarily first.
Then tighten them by following sequence ("1" - "17") as indicated in figure. Tighten a little at a time and evenly among bolts and repeat tightening sequence 2 or 3 times before they are tightened to specified torque below.
Camshaft timing sprocket bolt b: 80 Nm (8.0 kg-m, 58.0 ft.lb.)
Exhaust Manifold:
Exhaust manifold stiffener bolt a: 30 Nm (3.0 kg-m, 21.5 ft.lbs.)
Exhaust No.1 pipe bolt and nut b: 50 Nm (5.0 kg-m, 36.5 ft.lbs.)
