DTC Descriptor
DTC B0835 00 Cruise Control System Active Indicator Circuit
Diagnostic Fault Information:
Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The body control module (BCM) monitors the cruise control indicator switch. When the cruise on/off switch is switched ON, the cruise control switch is closed and the signal circuit is low. When the cruise on/off switch is pressed OFF, the cruise control switch is open and the signal circuit is high.
Conditions for Running the DTC
The ignition is ON.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
^ The BCM detects excessive current in the cruise control indicator dimming signal circuit.
^ The above condition is present for greater than 5 seconds.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
^ The BCM stores DTC B0835 in memory.
^ The cruise control system becomes inoperative.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
^ The DTC becomes history when the conditions for setting the DTC are no longer present.
^ The history DTC clears after 50 malfunction-free warm-up cycles.

Circuit/System Verification
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool Cruise Control Switch parameter while activating the cruise control switch ON and then deactivate it. The reading should change between On and Off accordingly with the depressed switch. The cruise control LED in the steering wheel controls switch - left should also turn on and turn off accordingly with the depressed switch.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector C1 at the BCM.
2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the steering wheel control supply voltage circuit terminal 17 and ground.
^ If the test lamp illuminates, test the steering wheel control supply voltage circuit for a short to voltage.
3. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector C3 at the BCM.
4. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp does not illuminate between the cruise control indicator dimming signal circuit terminal 22 and ground.
^ If the test lamp illuminates, test the cruise control indicator dimming signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the steering wheel controls switch assembly - left.
5. If all circuits test normal, replace the BCM.
