Repair Procedure
1. Lift up the front section of the roof rail cap enough to remove the retaining ring from the rail.
2. Remove the retaining ring with flat screwdriver or similar tool.
CAUTION:
Place a clean shop towel between the roof and tool when prying.
3. Squeeze the ring tighter with a pair of pliers enough to cause the ends to slightly overlap as shown in the photo.
4. Clean all surfaces involved with the retaining rings with a mild de-greaser such as rubbing alcohol. Allow the degreaser to dry before continuing to step 5.
5. Apply the emblem adhesive sparingly to the inside and outside of the retaining ring.
NOTE:
Apply the glue to the inside of the ring first, then the outside. Hold the ring by the flange when applying the glue to the outside to prevent the glue from contacting your skin. Gloves are recommended but may prevent you from holding the ring securely. Read the recommended safety handling information on the adhesive package or read the MSDS for further details.
6. Re-insert the retaining ring into the original location of the roof rail.
7. Align the roof rail cap with the retaining ring.
8. With the roof cap properly aligned, engage the roof rail cap pin into the retaining ring with a sharp blow. Do not use a hammer of any type.
9. Apply pressure to the rail cap for 1 to 3 minutes to allow the adhesive to set.
10. Be sure the rail cap is properly aligned with the rail trim and rail trim is not pinched under the rail cap.
11. Repeat procedure from step 1 to repair the opposite side.
