Inspection and Repair Procedure
1. Check the floor of the passenger and driver front cabin for water by removing the door sill trim, and pulling the carpet away from the door.
2. If there is no water visible, apply water at the corner of the left and right strut tower with a hose at a medium to low rate of flow.
3. If water appears, pull back the dash mat to find where the water is entering the vehicle.
4. With the dash mat pulled back, examine the dash panel directly under the IP. If the leak is from the strut tower, water will enter from behind the instrument panel on the left side of the driver side and on the right side of the passenger side.
5. To repair this concern, apply body sealant at the strut tower to dash panel area. Be careful to leave a path for water to drain away from the shock tower. There is a drain hole between the strut tower to dash panel, as shown in the picture. DO NOT cover this hole with sealer.
6. Apply sealer between the strut tower and the dash panel (except for the drain hole) and between the strut tower and the engine compartment side wall.
