SUBJECT:
NAVIGATION RADIO INTERMITTENTLY DISPLAYS BLANK/BLACK SCREEN, MAP DISC READ ERRORS, HAS FEATURES NOT ACCESSIBLE WHILE DRIVING, NAVIGATION RADIO RESETS UPON START-UP.

CONDITION:
Some customers may comment concerning any of the following conditions:
^ The Navigation Radio display intermittently goes blank or turns
black/off.
^ The Navigation Radio screen may intermittently freeze, lock-up, or display "MAP DVD Read Error" messages.
^ Some features may not be accessible while driving.
^ The Navigation Radio, upon start-up, will continue to display the vehicle logo repeatedly. This condition occurs when the vehicle language has been changed, using the Driver Information Center (DIC), in the previous ignition cycle.
CAUSE:
These conditions may be caused by software anomalies.
CORRECTION:
Update the Navigation Radio software.
Please do not replace the Navigation Radio, or the Navigation MAP Disc.

WARRANTY INFORMATION
1. Start the engine, and with the gear shift lever in PARK, wait until the audio or navigation screen is displayed after the opening screen (you may have to press the OK button on the Caution screen).
2. Proceed to the FM screen and confirm the current navigation software version by pressing the MENU and SEEK UP (A) buttons simultaneously.
3. The navigation software version is the first four characters, reading from the left, located in the middle of the screen.
4. If the navigation software version is 100F or 101B, the radio has the latest navigation software, so refer to the appropriate service manual to continue your diagnosis of the customer concern.
5. For all other navigational software versions, proceed to step 6 to continue the software update.
6. Open the front display by pressing and holding the EJECT (1) button for approximately 15 seconds.
7. Eject the Map disc, if present, from the map DVD slot located behind the display door by pressing the EJECT (2) button located below the disc slot.
8. Load the "Software Update Disc", received from the Suzuki S.M.A.R.T. Hotline, into the map drive (3).
9. Close the front display by using both hands, pressing the four corners of the display, until the display fits securely into the radio.
Caution:
Do not push on the "Touch Screen" to close.
10. The display will show "Update in Progress" while the software disc is running. It will take approximately 5 minutes to load the new software.
Important:
Do not turn off the power or remove the update disc while the software update is in progress.
11. Upon successful completion of the software update, the screen will transition to a screen with the message, "The disc installed is not a MAP DVD" displayed.
12. Push "Eject Map Disc" located in the lower right corner of the "Touch Screen" to open the display door.
13. Eject the "Software Update Disc" disc and install the original MAP DVD.
14. Close the front display by using both hands, pressing the four corners of the display, until the display fits securely into the radio.
Caution:
Do not push on the "Touch Screen" to close.
15. Confirm that the new navigation software version is either 100F or 101B using the procedure in step 2.
16. Verify proper operation of the Navigation Radio.
