Antitheft - Immobilizer Key Learn Procedure

Step 8 of Immobilizer System Support-Key Programming; "Code" changed to "Password"

CONDITION:

The crew cab Equator is equipped with vehicle immobilizer technology.

CAUSE:

Immobilizer and key reprogramming service required

CORRECTION:

Please be aware of the new added immobilizer function of the Suzuki Diagnostic Tool (SDT). In order to help with diagnosis and repair of the immobilizer system, a brief summary of the operation is shown below. (Additional information can be found in the service manual.)





TOOL INFORMATION

NOTE:
The Immobilizer Cable will initialize the SDT into the immobilizer mode only, no other function will be available until the immobilizer cable is removed.





Initial Activation and Use

Initial Activation (This will only happen once per SDT-Immobilizer Cable combination)





1. Connect the immobilizer cable inline between the DLC and SDT.

2. Plug into vehicle DLC connector.

3. Insert existing key or new key which has been cut for the vehicle and turn ignition switch to RUN.

4. Turn the SDT ON.

5. The immobilizer will initialize.

6. After initialization, the serial number of the cable will be requested.





7. Next enter the password supplied by ASMC for activation of the immobilizer cable.





8. Continue to "Immobilizer System Support-Key Programming" if no error occurs. If an error occurs, the number has been entered incorrectly or the number is incorrect, try again. Continue to "Immobilizer System Support-Key Programming".

9. If additional difficulty or errors are experienced, please contact ASMC Techline for assistance.

NOTE:
The programming process will erase any previously stored key code making the previously learned keys inoperative, please have ALL keys for the vehicle on hand prior to registering. If only 1 key is changed, added, or if the BCM is replaced, EVERY KEY must be RE-REGISTERED.

1. Connect the immobilizer cable inline between the DLC and SDT.

2. Plug into vehicle DLC connector.

3. Insert existing key or new key which has been cut for the vehicle and turn ignition switch to RUN.

4. Turn the SDT ON.

5. The immobilizer will initialize.

6. Select the "PIN Read" option.





7. PIN number will be shown. Use the PIN number shown on the SDT to acquire Password # 2 described in the next step.





8. Request "Password # 2" by logging into the Suzuki Pitstop web site. Select "Vehicle Security Systems" then "Online Immobilizer Password Request". Fill out the required information and complete the requested steps.





9. Select "C/U Initialization" on the SDT.





10. Enter "password # 2" acquired from Suzuki Pitstop into the SDT.





11. Select "OK" and the initialization complete screen will be shown in a few seconds.

NOTE:
ALL KEY IDs PREVIOUSLY REGISTERED ARE NOW ERASED AT THIS POINT!





12. Remove the originally inserted ignition key and re-insert it. The security light will flash five times indicating the key's ID has been stored into memory.

13. Remove the first key and insert each remaining key* one at a time. When each remaining key is inserted the security light will flash 5 times indicating the key ID has been stored in memory.

NOTE:
If the security light does not flash 5 times the key ID has not been properly stored and you must restart the procedure.

14. Reinsert the first key that was learned to complete the programming process. Turn the ignition switch ON, security light should now remain OFF.

15. Press "Exit" on the SDT, and power OFF the SDT. Disconnect the SDT from the vehicle.

NOTE:
The immobilizer cable must be removed from the SDT to perform any other diagnostics with the SDT.

* A maximum of 5 keys can be programmed for use at any time on each Equator truck.

Have all keys to be programmed ready before start of procedure.
