Rear Suspension knuckle Removal and InstallationRemoval
1) Hoist vehicle and remove rear wheels.
2) For headlight auto leveling model, remove rear height sensor.
3) Remove rear brake disc and brake caliper.
4) Remove parking brake shoe.
5) Remove rear wheel speed sensor.
^ ESP(R) model.
^ ABS model.
6) Remove parking brake cable from brake back plate.
7) Remove rear drive shaft nut and rear wheel hub.
8) Remove brake back plate.
9) Support lower arm (1) with jack (2).
10) Loosen control rod outer bolt (1).
11) Loosen trailing rod rear bolt (1).
12) Loosen lower arm outer bolt (1).
13) Disconnect upper arm joint from rear suspension knuckle (1) with puller (2) and remove rear suspension knuckle.
NOTE:
Do not remove upper arm joint nut (3) to avoid the rear suspension knuckle fall off.
Installation
1) Connect upper arm joint (2) to rear suspension knuckle (1).
2) Tighten new upper arm joint nut (3) to specified torque.
CAUTION:
Do not reuse removed upper arm joint nut.
Tightening torque
Upper arm joint nut (a): 55 Nm (5.5 kg-m, 40.0 lbf-ft)
3) Install lower arm to rear suspension knuckle and then tighten lower arm outer bolt (1) temporarily by hand.
CAUTION:
If reuse lower arm outer bolt, apply engine oil to thread, bearing and trunk surface.
4) Install trailing rod to rear suspension knuckle and then tighten trailing rod rear bolt (1) temporarily by hand.
CAUTION:
If reuse trailing rod rear bolt, apply engine oil to thread, bearing and trunk surface.
5) Install control rod to rear suspension knuckle tighten control rod outer bolt (1) temporarily by hand.
CAUTION:
If reuse control rod outer bolt, apply engine oil to thread, bearing and trunk surface.
6) Remove floor jack from lower arm.
7) Install brake back plate.
8) Install rear wheel speed sensor.
^ ESP(R) model.
^ ABS model.
9) Install rear wheel hub assembly.
10) Install parking brake cable.
11) Install parking brake shoe.
12) Install rear brake disc and brake caliper.
13) Adjust parking brake.
14) Install rear wheel and tighten wheel nuts to specified torque.
15) Check to ensure that rear brake is free from dragging and proper braking is obtained.
16) Bounce vehicle up and down to stabilize suspension.
17) Tighten each bolts to specified torque with vehicle weight on suspension.
NOTE:
It is the most desirable to have vehicle off hoist and in non-loaded condition when tightening them.
Tightening torque
Lower arm outer bolt: 135 Nm (13.5 kg-m, 98.0 lbf-ft)
Trailing rod rear bolt: 135 Nm (13.5 kg-m, 98.0 lbf-ft)
Control rod outer bolt: 135 Nm (13.5 kg-m, 98.0 lbf-ft)
18) Perform brake test (foot brake and parking brake).
19) Check each installed part for fluid leakage.
20) Check rear toe and camber adjust it as necessary.
