Tightening Torques

Cylinder Head Bolts

Whenever the size difference between (d1) and (d2) exceeds the limit, replace them with a new one.





Limit [(d1) (d2)]: 0.23 mm (0.0091 in)

If reduction of outer diameter appears in a position other than (d2), use it as (d2) point.





Step a 50 Nm (5.1 kg-m, 37 ft-lb)
Step b 60 degrees clockwise
Step c Loosen to 0 Nm in the reverse order of tightening.
Step d 39.2 Nm (4.0 kg-m, 29 ft-lb)
Step e 75 degrees clockwise
Step f 75 degrees clockwise

Intake manifold





Intake manifold bolts 9.4 Nm (0.96 kg-m, 83 in-lb)
No. 6 means double tightening of bolt No. 1

Camshaft brackets





Step 1 (bolts 9 - 11) 2.0 Nm (0.2 kg-m, 17 in-lb)
Step 2 (bolts 1 - 8) 2.0 Nm (0.2 kg-m, 17 in-lb)
Step 3 (bolts 1 - 11) 5.9 Nm (0.6 kg-m, 52 in-lb)
Step 4 (bolts 1 - 11) 10.4 Nm (1.1 kg-m, 92 in-lb)

Lower cylinder block





Step 1 (bolts 11 - 22) 25.1 Nm (2.6 kg-m, 19 ft-lb)
Step 2 (bolts 1 - 10) 39.2 Nm (4.0 kg-m, 29 ft-lb)
Step 3 (bolts 1 - 10) 60 degrees - 65 degrees (target: 60 degrees)

Connecting rod cap

Step 1 27.4 Nm (2.8 kg-m, 20 ft-lb)
Step 2 0 Nm (0 kg-m, 0 ft-lb)
Step 3 19.6 Nm (2.0 kg-m, 14 ft-lb)
Step 4 85 degrees - 95 degrees (target 90 degrees degrees

Crankshaft pulley

Tighten 42.1 Nm (4.3 kg-m, 31 ft-lb)
Angle tighten 60 degrees

Flex plate 108 Nm (11 kgf-m, 80 ft lb)

Flywheel 108 Nm (11 kgf-m, 80 ft lb)

Balancer unit





Step 1 bolts 1 - 4 48.1 Nm (4.9 kg-m, 35 ft-lb)
Step 2 bolts 1 - 4 100 degrees clockwise
Step 3 bolts 1 - 4 0 Nm (0 kg-m, 0 ft-lb)
Step 4 bolts 1 - 4 48.1 Nm (4.9 kg-m, 35 ft-lb)
Step 5 bolts 1 - 4 100 degrees clockwise
Step 6 bolts 5 - 6 30.1 Nm (3.1 kg-m, 22 ft-lb)

Exhaust manifold 41.7 Nm (4.3 kgf-m, 31 ft lb)





Tighten nuts in numerical order as shown again

Water pump 24.5 Nm (2.5 kgf-m, 18 ft lb)
