DTC B1018: OCM-SDM Serial Communication Problem

DTC Will be Set When

Transmission error or receiving error is detected from OCM for specified time.

Flow Test Description

Step 2: Check OCM-SDM serial communication circuit.

Step 3: Check if voltage applied to OCM is within normal range.

Step 4: Check OCM ground circuit.

DTC Troubleshooting

1.
Was "Air Bag Diagnostic System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Advanced Air Bag.

2. Disconnect SDM connector "L33" and OCM connector "L78".
Check proper connection to SDM at terminal "L33-17" and OCM connector at terminal "L78-1".
Check OCM-SDM serial communication circuit between "L33-17" and "L78-1" for open, short and high resistance.
Special Tool

(A): 09932-76010





Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
Repair "RED/GRN" circuit.

3. Measure voltage between "L78-2" and body ground.
Special Tool

(A): 09932-76010





With ignition switch ON, Is voltage in 9 - 16 V?
YES -
Go to Step 4.
NO -
Repair "RED" circuit.

4. Measure resistance between "L78-3" and body ground.
Special Tool

(A): 09932-76010





Is continuity indicated?
YES -
Substitute a known-good SDM and recheck. If DTC is still indicated, substitute a known-good OCM and recheck.
NO -
High resistance or open circuit in "BLK" circuit.

NOTE:

Upon completion of inspection and repair work, perform the following items.

- Reconnect all air bag system components and ensure all components are properly mounted.
- Clear DTCs, if any. DTC Clearance
- Repeat Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Advanced Air Bag
to confirm that the trouble has been corrected.
