Wiring Diagram

Refer to Passenger Air Bag Initiator Circuit Resistance High DTC B1041: Passenger Air Bag Initiator Circuit Resistance High:Except Advanced Air Bag.

DTC Will be Set when

The combined resistance of the passenger air bag (inflator) module, harness wiring and connector terminal contact is below a specified value for specified time.

Flow Test Description

Step 2: Check if malfunction is in passenger air bag (inflator) module.

Step 3: Check passenger air bag (inflator) module initiator circuit. (Between "Q01" and "Q02")

Step 4: Check passenger air bag (inflator) module initiator circuit. (Between "G67" and "G47" or "G67" and "G46")

DTC Troubleshooting

1.
Was "Air Bag Diagnostic System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Except Advanced Air Bag.

2. With ignition switch OFF, disconnect passenger air bag (inflator) module connector.
Check proper connection to passenger air bag (inflator) module at terminals in "Q02" connector.
If OK, then connect special tools (A), (B) and (D) to "Q02" connector.
Special Tool

(A): 09932-76010

(B): 09932-75010

(D): 09932-78310

Check SDM DTC.

With ignition switch ON, is DTC B1042 indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
Turn ignition switch OFF. Replace passenger air bag (inflator) module referring to Removal and Installation Passenger Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation:Except Advanced Air Bag.

3. With ignition switch OFF, disconnect "G67" connector located near the glove box.
Check proper connection to instrument panel harness connector at terminal "G67-1" and "G67-2".
If OK, then connect special tools (B) and (C) to "G67" connector disconnected in Step 1).
Special Tool

(B): 09932-75010

(C): 09932-77320

Check SDM DTC.

With ignition switch ON, is DTC B1042 indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 4.
NO -
"BLU/RED" circuit shorted to "YEL/RED" circuit, "BLU/RED" circuit or "YEL/RED" circuit shorted to other circuit. (Between "Q01" and "Q02" connectors)

4. With ignition switch OFF, disconnect SDM connector "G47" or "G46".
Check proper connection to SDM at terminals "G47-3" and "G47-4" or "G46-5" and "G46-6".
If OK, release shorting bar in SDM connector inserting release tool (1) included in special tool (A).
Measure resistance between "G47-3" and "G47-4" terminals [A] or between "G46-5" and "G46-6" terminals [B] with connected special tools (B) and (C).
Special Tool

(A): 09932-76010

(B): 09932-75010

(C): 09932-77320

Is resistance 0.65 ohms or more?
YES -
Substitute a known-good SDM and recheck.
NO -
"BLU/RED" circuit shorted to "YEL/RED" circuit, "BLU/RED" circuit or "YEL/RED" circuit shorted to other circuit. (Between "G67" and "G47" connectors or between "G67" and "G46" connectors).

NOTE:

Upon completion of inspection and repair work, perform the following items.

- Reconnect all air bag system components and ensure all components are properly mounted.
- Clear DTCs, if any. DTC Clearance
- Repeat Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Except Advanced Air Bag
to confirm that the trouble has been corrected.
