Driver / Passenger Pretensioner Circuit Resistance Low




DTC B1052 / B1056: Driver / Passenger Pretensioner Circuit Resistance Low

Wiring Diagram

Refer to Driver / Passenger Pretensioner Circuit Resistance High DTC B1051 / B1055: Driver / Passenger Pretensioner Circuit Resistance High:Advanced Air Bag.

DTC Will be Set when

The resistance of driver or passenger seat belt pretensioner initiator circuit is below a specified value for specified time.

Flow Test Description

Step 2: Check if malfunction is in seat belt pretensioner.

Step 3: Check seat belt pretensioner initiator circuit.

DTC Troubleshooting

1.
Was "Air Bag Diagnostic System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Advanced Air Bag.

2. With ignition switch OFF, remove center pillar lower trim of driver or passenger side and disconnect seat belt pretensioner connector "L12" or "L36" (1).
Check proper connection to seat belt pretensioner at terminals in "L12" or "L36" connector.
If OK, then connect special tools (A), (B) and (C) to "L12" or "L36" connector disconnected in Step 1).

Check SDM DTC.

With ignition switch ON, is DTC B1052 or B1056 still indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
Turn ignition switch OFF. Replace seat belt pretensioner referring to Removal and Installation Front Seat Belt Removal and Installation.

3. With ignition switch OFF, disconnect SDM connector or "L33".
Check proper connection to SDM at terminals "L33-5" and "L33-6" (for DTC B1052) or terminals "L33-7" and "L33-8" (for DTC B1056).
If OK, release shorting bar in SDM connector inserting release tool (1) included in special tool (A).
Measure resistance between "L33-5" and "L33-6" (for DTC B1052) or "L33-7" and "L33-8" (for DTC B1056) with connected special tools (A), (B) and (C).

Is resistance 0.65 ohms or more?
YES -
Substitute a known-good SDM and recheck.
NO -
DTC B1052: "GRN/ORN" circuit shorted to "GRN/YEL" circuit, "GRN/ORN" circuit or "GRN/YEL" circuit shorted to other circuit.
DTC B1056: "BLU/ORN" circuit shorted to "BLU/YEL" circuit, "BLU/ORN" circuit or "BLU/YEL" circuit shorted to other circuit.

NOTE:

Upon completion of inspection and repair work, perform the following items.

- Reconnect all air bag system components and ensure all components are properly mounted.
- Clear DTCs, if any. DTC Clearance
- Repeat Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Advanced Air Bag
to confirm that the trouble has been corrected.
