Driver / Passenger Side Forward Sensor Circuit Short to Ground
DTC B1073 / B1077: Driver / Passenger Side Forward Sensor Circuit Short to Ground
Wiring Diagram
DTC Will be Set when
The voltage measured at driver / passenger forward-sensor circuit is below a specified value for specified time.
Flow Test Description
Step 2: Check for short circuit between forward-sensor circuit and ground.
Step 3: Check for short circuit between forward-sensor circuit and ground circuit.
DTC Troubleshooting
1.
Was "Air Bag Diagnostic System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Advanced Air Bag.
2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
Disconnect forward-sensor connector "E13" or "E24".
Disconnect SDM connector "L32".
Measure resistance between "L32-7" terminal and body ground (for DTC B1073) or "L32-10" terminal and body ground (for DTC B1077).
Special Tool
(A): 09932-76010
Is each measured resistance infinity?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
For DTC B1073: "ORN" circuit shorted to ground.
For DTC B1077: "PNK" circuit shorted to ground.
3. Measure resistance between terminals "L32-7" and "L32-8" (for DTC B1073) or "L32-9" and "L32-10" (for DTC B1077).
Special Tool
(A): 09932-76010
Is each measured resistance infinity?
YES -
Replace defective forward impact-sensor and recheck. If this DTC is still detected, replace SDM.
NO -
For DTC B1073: "ORN" circuit shorted to "PNK/BLK" circuit.
For DTC B1077: "PNK" circuit shorted to "PNK/BLU" circuit.
NOTE:
Upon completion of inspection and repair work, perform the following items.
- Reconnect all air bag system components and ensure all components are properly mounted.
- Clear DTCs, if any. DTC Clearance
- Repeat Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Advanced Air Bag
to confirm that the trouble has been corrected.
