DTC B1331 / B1335: Left / Right Side Curtain-Air Bag Initiator Circuit Resistance High

DTC Will be Set when

The combined resistance of the side curtain-air bag (inflator) module (left or right), harness wiring and connector terminal contact is above a specified value for specified time.

Flow Test Description

Step 2: Check whether malfunction is in side curtain-air bag (inflator) module.

Step 3: Check side curtain-air bag initiator circuit.

DTC Troubleshooting

1.
Was "Air Bag Diagnostic System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Except Advanced Air Bag.

2. With ignition switch OFF, remove rear side upper trim of left or right side and disconnect side curtain-air bag (inflator) module connector.
Check proper connection to side curtain-air bag (inflator) module at terminals in "L18" or "L41" connector.
If OK, then connect special tools (A), (B) and (C) to side curtain-air bag (inflator) module connector.

Check SDM DTC.

With ignition switch ON, is DTC B1331 or B1335 still indicated?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
Replace side curtain-air bag (inflator) module referring to Side Curtain-Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation Side Curtain-Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation:Except Advanced Air Bag.

3. With ignition switch OFF, disconnect SDM connector "L32".
Check proper connection to SDM at terminals "L32-1" and "L32-2" or "L32-3" and "L32-4".
If OK, release shorting bar in SDM connector inserting release tool (1) included in special tool (A).
Measure resistance between "L32-1" and "L32-2" terminals (for DTC B1331) or "L32-3" and "L32-4" terminals (for DTC B1335) with connected special tools (A), (B) and (C).

Is resistance 5.5 ohms or less?
YES -
Substitute a known-good SDM and recheck.
NO -
DTC B1331: Repair high resistance or open in "YEL/GRN" or "YEL/BLU" wire circuit.
DTC B1335: Repair high resistance or open in "BLK/YEL" or "BRN/YEL" wire circuit.

NOTE:

Upon completion of inspection and repair work, perform the following items.

- Reconnect all air bag system components, ensure all components are properly mounted.
- Clear DTCs referring to DTC Clearance DTC Clearance:Except Advanced Air Bag
, if any.
- Repeat Air Bag Diagnostic System Check Air Bag Diagnostic System Check:Except Advanced Air Bag
to confirm that the trouble has been corrected.
