DTC Confirmation Procedure

WARNING:

If you do not select a suitable route and take proper precautions when performing a road test, an accident can occur.

- Select a level road with no traffic to minimize the risk of accident.
- Perform the test extremely carefully.
- Perform the road test using 2 persons, a driver and an assistant.

NOTE:

- If DTCs other than aimed DTC are previously detected in DTC confirmation procedure, be sure to troubleshoot DTC previously detected.
- Check to make sure that the following conditions are satisfied when using this procedure.

- 4.4 °C (39.9 °F) < IAT < 50 °C (122 °F)

- 4.4 °C (39.9 °F) < ECT < 45 °C (113 °F)

- BARO > 75 kPa (0.8 kgf/cm2, 10.8 psi, 0.75 bar)

- Fuel level < 85%


1) Start engine and warm up to normal operating temperature.
2) Drive vehicle at 40 km/h (25 mile/h) for 15 min.
3) Turn OFF ignition switch and leave for 6 hours.

DTC Troubleshooting

1.
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Engine and Emission Control System Check Engine and Emission Control System Check.

2. Fuel filler cap check

Check fuel filler cap is SUZUKI genuine parts and tightness.
Check fuel filler cap gasket for uneven filler neck imprint, foreign material pinched and damage.

Is result satisfactory?
YES -
Go to Step 3.
NO -
Replace fuel filler cap with new genuine one.

3. Pressurization test

Perform pressurization test. Evaporative Emission System Leak Inspection (EVAP-Leak-Check Model)

Is any leak detected?
YES -
Go to Step 4.
NO -
Go to Step 7.

4. Smoke test

Perform smoke test. Evaporative Emission System Smoke Test (EVAP-Leak-Check Model)

Is there any leak part?
YES -
Repair leaking and then go to Step 3 again.
NO -
Go to Step 5.

5. EVAP canister purge valve check

Check EVAP canister purge valve. EVAP Canister Purge System Inspection

Is check result satisfactory?
YES -
Go to Step 6.
NO -
Replace EVAP canister purge valve.

6. EVAP vent valve and EVAP leak check pressure sensor check

Check EVAP vent valve and EVAP leak check pressure sensor in EVAP leak check module. EVAP Leak Check Module Inspection

Is check result satisfactory?
YES -
Return to Step 3.
NO -
Replace EVAP leak check module.

7. EVAP vent valve and EVAP leak check pressure sensor check

Check EVAP vent valve and EVAP leak check pressure sensor in EVAP leak check module. EVAP Leak Check Module Inspection

Is check result satisfactory?
YES -
Go to Step 8.
NO -
Replace EVAP leak check module.

8. Fuel level sensor and Its circuit check

Check fuel level sensor and its circuit. P0461

Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 9.
NO -
Repair or replace defective parts or wire harness.

9. EVAP leak check

Replace EVAP leak check module.
Connect scan tool to DLC and clear DTC.
Run engine at idle for 10 minutes.
Confirm that DTC is no detected.
Turn OFF ignition switch and leave for 6 hours.
Recheck DTC.

Is DTC P0456 detected?
YES -
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
NO -
End.
