DTC Confirmation Procedure
WARNING:
If you do not select a suitable route and take proper precautions when performing a road test, an accident can occur.
- Select a level road with no traffic to minimize the risk of accident.
- Perform the test extremely carefully.
- Perform the road test using 2 persons, a driver and an assistant.
NOTE:
If DTCs other than aimed DTC are previously detected in DTC confirmation procedure, be sure to troubleshoot DTC previously detected.
1) Start engine and warm up to normal operating temperature.
2) Drive vehicle at 50 - 100 km/h (31 - 62 mile/h) for 1 hour.
DTC Troubleshooting
1.
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
Go to Engine and Emission Control System Check Engine and Emission Control System Check.
2. DTC check
Check DTC.
Is there any CAN-DTC?
YES -
Go to CAN DTC (Lost Communication and Communication Bus Off) Table CAN DTC (Lost Communication and Communication Bus Off) Table.
NO -
Go to Step 3.
3. Main fuel level sensor power supply circuit and sub fuel level sensor power supply circuit check
Turn OFF ignition switch and disconnect connectors from combination meter, main fuel level sensor.
Check for proper terminal connection to combination meter connector, main fuel level sensor connector and sub fuel level sensor connector.
If connections are OK, check that main fuel level sensor power supply circuit (A1) and sub fuel level sensor power supply circuit (A2) are as follows.
- Wiring harness resistance of main fuel level sensor power supply circuit is less than 3 ohms.
- Wiring harness resistance of sub fuel level sensor power supply circuit is less than 3 ohms.
- Insulation resistance between main fuel level sensor power supply circuit and vehicle body ground is infinity.
- Insulation resistance between sub fuel level sensor power supply circuit and vehicle body ground is infinity.
- Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between main fuel level sensor power supply circuit and each terminal at main fuel level sensor connector.
- Insulation resistance of wire harness is infinity between sub fuel level sensor power supply circuit and each terminal at sub fuel level sensor connector.
- Circuit voltage of main fuel level sensor power supply circuit is 0 - 1 V with ignition switch in ON position.
- Circuit voltage of sub fuel level sensor power supply circuit is 0 - 1 V with ignition switch in ON position.
Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 4.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.
4. Fuel level sensor ground circuit check
Check that fuel level sensor ground circuit (A3) is as follows.
- Wiring harness resistance of fuel level sensor ground circuit is less than 3 ohms.
- Circuit voltage of fuel level sensor ground circuit and body ground is 0 - 1 V with ignition switch in ON position.
Are they in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 5.
NO -
Repair or replace defective wire harness.
5. Main fuel level sensor and sub fuel level sensor check
Check main fuel level sensor and sub fuel level sensor. Fuel Level Sensor Inspection
Is it in good condition?
YES -
Go to Step 6.
NO -
Repair or replace defective parts.
6. DTC recheck
Replace combination meter. Service and Repair
Perform DTC confirmation procedure and check DTC.
Is DTC P0461 still detected?
YES -
Substitute a known-good ECM and recheck.
NO -
End.
