DTC P1614: Transponder Response Error
Detecting Condition and Trouble Area
Troubleshooting
1. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) confirmation
Clear DTC(s) referring to DTC Clearance DTC Clearance.
Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
Check if any DTC is detected referring to DTC Check DTC Check.
Is DTC P1614 still detected?
YES -
Go to Step 2.
NO -
The troubleshooting is completed.
2. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) check
Check if any DTC other than P1614 is detected referring to DTC Check DTC Check.
Is any DTC other than P1614 is detected?
YES -
Perform troubleshooting referring to the corresponding flowchart in this section, and then go to Step 3.
NO -
Go to Step 3.
3. Registration of the ignition key in use with ECM and Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Check
There is a possibility that the unregistered ignition key is used. Therefore, register the transponder code in the transponder in the ignition key with ECM referring to Registration of the Ignition Key Registration of the Ignition Key.
Check if DTC P1614 is detected referring to DTC Check DTC Check.
Is DTC P1614 detected?
YES -
Go to Step 4.
NO -
The troubleshooting is completed.
4. Registration of the new ignition key with ECM and Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) check
The transponder in the ignition key is corrupted or the ignition key without the transponder is used. Therefore, prepare the new ignition key.
Register the transponder code in the transponder in the new ignition key with ECM referring to Registration of the Ignition Key Registration of the Ignition Key.
Check if that DTC P1614 is detected referring to DTC Check DTC Check.
Is DTC P1614 detected?
YES -
Go to Step 5.
NO -
The troubleshooting is completed.
5. ICM check
Check ICM referring to Testing and Inspection Inspection of Immobilizer Control Module (ICM) and Its Circuit.
Is ICM normal?
YES -
Replace ECM with new one referring to ECM (Engine Control Module) Removal and Installation ECM (Engine Control Module) Removal and Installation
, and then perform Procedure after ECM Replacement Procedure after ECM Replacement.
NO -
Replace ICM with new one referring to Service and Repair Immobilizer Control Module (ICM) Removal and Installation.
