ESP Hydraulic Unit Operation Check




ESP(R) Hydraulic Unit Operation Check

NOTE:

A false diagnosis may result if operation check of the ESP(R) hydraulic unit is performed without satisfying all of the specified conditions.

Make sure that all the following conditions are met before performing operation check of the ESP(R) hydraulic unit.

- Battery voltage is 11 V or more.
- No air is trapped in the brake system.
- Brakes do not drag.
- No DTC is stored in ESP(R) control module.

NOTE:

- Operation check must be performed by 2 persons.
- Be sure to perform Programming and Relearning Sensor Calibration of ESP(R) Components
before performing hydraulic unit operation check.


1) Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
2) Connect SUZUKI scan tool to DLC (1) located on underside of instrument panel at driver's seat side.
Special Tool

(A): SUZUKI scan tool (SUZUKI-SDT)





3) Hoist vehicle until tire can be rotated.
4) Set transmission to neutral and release parking brake.
5) Turn ignition switch to ON position and select menu press / depress in "HYDRAULIC CONTROL TEST" under "Utility" of SUZUKI scan tool.

Refer to SUZUKI scan tool operator's manual for further details.
6) Perform the following checks with help of another person.
- Depressurization check
Step on brake pedal (1) and then select testing wheel by SUZUKI scan tool and the wheel (2) should be turned by another person's hand. At this time, check whether the wheel rotates freely due to brake depressurization.
- Pressurization check
Step off brake pedal (1) and then select testing wheel by SUZUKI scan tool and the wheel (2) should be turned by another person's hand. At this time, check whether the wheel locks due to brake pressurization.

NOTE:
Pressurization / Depressurization by SUZUKI scan tool is available for 0.5 second.





7) Check for all 4-wheels condition respectively. If a faulty condition is found, replace hydraulic unit /control module assembly.
8) After completing the check, turn ignition switch to OFF position and disconnect SUZUKI scan tool from DLC.
