Advanced Air Bag




Side Curtain-Air Bag (Inflator) Module Removal and Installation

WARNING:

Failure to take proper precautions when performing service on the side curtain-air bag (inflator) module can result in personal injury or non-activation of the air bag in the event of a collision.

- Never attempt to disassemble or repair an air bag (inflator) module. If any abnormality is found, replace the module with a new one.

and follow all of the instructions provided.


Removal

1) Disable air bag system. Disabling Air Bag System
2) Remove head lining. Service and Repair
3) Disconnect side curtain-air bag (inflator) module connector (1) as shown in the figure.
a) Unlock lock button (2).
b) With lock button unlocked, disconnect connector.





4) Remove side curtain-air bag (inflator) module bolts (1) and clip (2).





5) Remove side curtain-air bag (inflator) module.

WARNING:
Failure to take proper precautions when handling and storing a live (non-deployed) air bag (inflator) module can result in personal injury due to accidental deployment of the air bag.
- Always carry a live air bag (inflator) module with the air bag's opening pointed away from you. Doing so will help reduce the chance of injury in case of accidental deployment of the air bag.
- Never carry an air bag (inflator) module by the wires or connector on the side of the module.
- Always place a live air bag (inflator) module with the bag (trim cover) side facing up when it is stored or left standing. Allowing for a free space above the module is essential to minimize the risk of personal injury in the event of accidental deployment of the air bag.

and follow all of the instructions provided.


Installation

Side Curtain-Air Bag (Inflator) Module Inspection:Advanced Air Bag

WARNING:

If the side curtain-air bag (inflator) module is installed in a bent or twisted condition, it may fail to deploy in the event of a collision, increasing the risk of personal injury.

Be sure to check that the side curtain-air bag (inflator) module is neither twisted nor bent when installing it.

1) Install side curtain-air bag (inflator) module (1) with clip (2) and bolts.
2) Tighten side curtain-air bag (inflator) module bolts (3) to specified torque.

Tightening torque
Side curtain-air bag (inflator) module bolts (a): 10 Nm (1.0 kgf-m, 7.5 lbf-ft)





3) Connect side curtain-air bag (inflator) module connector (1) securely as shown in the figure.
a) Connect connector.
b) Lock connector with lock button (2).





4) Install head lining. Service and Repair
5) Enable air bag system. Enabling Air Bag System
