Fuel Injector: Testing and Inspection

RESISTANCE TEST:

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect fuel injector electrical connector.

3. Using a suitable ohmmeter, measure resistance at each injector terminal, Fig. 127. Reading should be 1.9--2.1 ohms at 68°F.
4. If resistance is not as specified, replace the injector.

OPERATION TEST:

1. Ensure fuel system pressure is within specifications as described under ``Fuel System Pressure Check.''
2. While cranking the engine, check that fuel spray from the injector is conical in shape. If fuel spray is not as specified, replace the injector
3. If fuel leaks from the injector, with the engine off, replace the injector.
4. If fuel will not spray from the injector, ensure injector electrical connectors are secure and check wiring harness continuity.
