Steering Column: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove steering wheel.
2. Remove combination switch, then disconnect ignition switch electrical connectors.
3. Remove floor mat at foot of steering shaft, then the steering joint cover.
4. On automatic transmission models, remove back drive cable from steering column assembly.
5. On all models, disconnect steering joint by removing joint bolt.
6. Remove steering column mounting bolts, then the steering column assembly.
7. Reverse procedure to install.
